Immigration to Quebec through the Temporary Foreign Worker stream

Qualified professionals with one year of work experience in Quebec can immigrate through the Temporary Foreign Worker stream.

The Temporary Foreign Worker (Travailleur étranger temporaire) is a stream of the Quebec provincial immigration program designed for qualified professionals who are currently working in Quebec.

Eligibility

To immigrate to Quebec through this stream, a candidate must:

  • be 18 years of age or older;
  • have 24 months of work experience in Quebec within the last 36 months in a NOC level 0, A or B occupation;
  • be and work in Quebec on a youth exchange program at the time of applying;
  • demonstrate the French language ability at level 7 on the Quebec scale of competency levels (upper-intermediate);
  • show financial self-sufficiency (see below);
  • obtain an attestation of learning about democratic values and the Quebec values expressed by the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Also, spouses or de facto spouses of the main applicants must demonstrate basic knowledge of French by providing the results of the language test.

Settlement funds

The amount of money you must have depends on your family. Amounts are given in Canadian dollars.
