Bright red, blue, green and yellow colors are dancing and circling across the night sky.

Space and weather agencies are monitoring heightened aurora borealis activity for much of Canada following a rare solar eruption.

A powerful solar plasma ejection, also known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), was observed by NASA on Sunday. The rate at which this ejection occurred was rare and extremely high.

A powerful blast of solar plasma, also known as coronal mass ejection (CME), was spotted by NASA the speed in which it erupted travelled at a rare and extremely fast rate of 2,127 kilometres per second.

Some Canadians are also capturing the incredible spectacle of shades and color illuminating the night sky.

Some Canadians may notice this activity in several regions like most of northern Quebec, and parts of northern British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Newfoundland.
