Where will Canadians go after the pandemic?

The restrictions are still in effect, but Canadians are actively seeking hotels abroad.

Even though Canada's borders are closed for the near future and the government is reassuring residents not to travel unnecessarily, Canadians are already dreaming of a vacation once restrictions are loosened.

Travel company Expedia has published a list of places where Canadians are most frequently looking for hotels for October-December 2021. And it seems that as soon as they get the green light, residents will rush to the long haul.

Mexico leads the way in terms of popularity. Canadians can't wait to relax on the beaches of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Puerto Vallarta.

In addition to Mexico, the top destinations include the island of Maui and the city of Honolulu in Hawaii, the American cities of Orlando and New York, as well as Bora Bora, Maldives and Dubai.

It's not yet known when Canadians will be able to travel abroad again, but the Public Health Agency forecasts that the country could begin lifting restrictions as early as summer, and we can expect a return to normalcy by fall. Also, the government is already discussing whether and under what conditions vaccinated tourists can be allowed to enter the country.
