But only partially.

There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel and hope for the residents of Canada to return to normal life. Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s Minister of Health, has issued a new decree that allows outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people in the province.

This means that residents of the province can see their friends and relatives again. This has not been possible since December 2020. You can meet outside, in parks, and on private property — in backyards, for example. And social distance will still have to be respected.

There is no change regarding indoor gatherings — they are still prohibited. Henry also urged provincial residents to remain vigilant and cautious so that strict measures don't have to be imposed again.

According to the latest modelling of the COVID-19 situation in B.C., the spread of the virus could stop entirely by May if residents reduce their contact with other people. So far, infections are on the rise in the province, but there is little evidence that the virus is being transmitted outdoors, according to Henry.

The relaxations aren't just affecting British Columbia: last week, libraries in Calgary, Alberta, opened.
