The province of Ontario held a huge immigration screening event
Sent out 2,699 invitations to candidates from various professions.
Several large immigration selections took place in Ontario on Dec. 5. The province sent a total of 2,699 invitations to candidates from two streams: foreign workers and candidates with in-demand skills.
Invitations to flow foreign workers were sent to four different categories of applicants: skilled professionals, health professionals, technicians, and applicants participating in the Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP) refugee program.
Foreign workers: skilled trades
761 invitations were sent to candidates who scored 34 points or more on the provincial scoring system and had an offer of employment in Ontario in one of the following occupations:
- Drafting technologists and technicians;
- Mechanical engineering technologists and technicians;
- Industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians;
- Electronic service technicians (household and business equipment);
- Industrial instrument technicians and mechanics;
- Construction managers;
- Home building and renovation managers;
- Facility operation and maintenance managers;
- Contractors and supervisors, machining, metal forming, shaping and erecting trades and related occupations;
- Contractors and supervisors, electrical trades and telecommunications occupations;
- Contractors and supervisors, pipefitting trades;
- Contractors and supervisors, carpentry trades;
- Contractors and supervisors, other construction trades, installers, repairers and servicers;
- Contractors and supervisors, mechanic trades;
- Contractors and supervisors, heavy equipment operator crews;
- Supervisors, printing and related occupations;
- Supervisors, motor transport and other ground transit operators;
- Machinists and machining and tooling inspectors;
- Tool and die makers;
- Sheet metal workers;
- Boilermakers;
- Structural metal and platework fabricators and fitters;
- Ironworkers;
- Welders and related machine operators;
- Electricians (except industrial and power system);
- Industrial electricians;
- Electrical power line and cable workers;
- Telecommunications line and cable installers and repairers;
- Telecommunications equipment installation and cable television service technicians;
- Plumbers;
- Steamfitters, pipefitters and sprinkler system installers;
- Gas fitters;
- Carpenters;
- Cabinetmakers;
- Bricklayers;
- Insulators;
- Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics;
- Heavy-duty equipment mechanics;
- Heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics;
- Railway carmen/women;
- Aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors;
- Elevator constructors and mechanics;
- Automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics and mechanical repairers;
- Electrical mechanics;
- Motorcycle, all-terrain vehicle and other related mechanics;
- Crane operators;
- Concrete finishers;
- Tilesetters;
- Plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers;
- Roofers and shinglers;
- Glaziers;
- Painters and decorators (except interior decorators);
- Floor covering installers;
- Residential and commercial installers and servicers;
- General building maintenance workers and building superintendents;
- Pest controllers and fumigators;
- Other repairers and servicers;
- Heavy equipment operators;
- Drillers and blasters — surface mining, quarrying and construction;
- Contractors and supervisors, landscaping, grounds maintenance and horticulture services;
- Power engineers and power systems operators.
Foreign workers: health professionals and technicians
1,663 invitations were sent to members of the medical and technical professions who had a job offer in the province and scored 43 or more points. The list of occupations was limited this time.
