Nova Scotia announces list of institutions to accept international students

The province is expecting 12,900 international students to join its colleges and universities under a new federal program.

Following new rules for admitting international students to Canadian institutions, Nova Scotia has announced the distribution of student places in its province.

Nova Scotia will be able to admit 12,900 international students to its educational organizations this year, according to a federal government order to control the number of international students. This means the number of international students in the province is down 7,000 from last year.

The number of student seats was distributed by the provincial government among 32 educational institutions.

  • 11,565 seats were given to 10 universities and Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC).
  • 710 student places are allocated for a dozen private career colleges.
  • 526 places went to 9 foreign language schools.

Nova Scotia decided to leave another 99 available places unallocated for contingencies and new programs.

Nova Scotia's student seat allocation system is different from what the province of Ontario previously announced.
