What do Canadians expect from their government?

The survey showed that people are mainly concerned about food prices, housing affordability and migrants.

Canadian parliamentarians are returning from vacation, and Canadians are already expecting them to address some very specific issues. What are they?

The main problem for 49% of respondents is the high cost of everyday goods, mainly food products. Inflation and interest rates (45%), as well as housing affordability (39%) were also among the priorities.

House Leader Steve McKinnon said such economic topics are sure to be a focus in the new parliamentary session. The government plans to continue working on the initiatives identified in the fall economic report, including the expansion of dental services, and introduce new bills.

Immigration is also among the key topics, ranking fourth in importance with 22% of Canadians prioritizing it. They are worried about research showing the link between immigration policy and the housing shortage.

Other important issues include homelessness, energy costs, and the dental care plan.
