British Columbia welcomed a record number of immigrants in 2021

There hasn't been such an influx of new residents in the province for 60 years.

Data released by Statistics Canada shows that the net population growth of British Columbia through migration in 2021 was 100,797 people. The net increase is the number of people who came, minus the number who left.

33,656 people came from other Canadian provinces. This is the highest number in the country — and the highest in B.C. history since 1994. The remaining 67,141 people came from other countries.

British Columbia now employs 84,000 more people than before the pandemic, the highest job recovery in Canada. But the province is not going to stop there. It promises to open million jobs in the next ten years, 37% of which will be new.
