British Columbia Is Increasing Family Benefits This Summer

New amounts will start being disbursed from July.

Families in British Columbia will receive increased family benefits this summer, Premier David Eby announced Monday morning. The government reported that families will get an average of $445 CAD more than last year, thanks to a one-time bonus added to the BC Family Benefit payments.

This additional payment will be distributed to approximately 340,000 families, who will start receiving money through direct deposits or mailed checks beginning in mid-July. The 25% increase from the bonus means that a family of four could potentially receive up to $3,563 annually, while a single parent with one child could receive up to $2,688.

Premier Eby emphasized that this increase aims to support families during economic challenges and enhance their financial stability. He expressed hope that this measure will help alleviate the financial burden for many residents of the province.
