Saskatchewan leads the nation in retail sales

Sales revenue surpassed $2.2 billion CAD in April.

According to Statistics Canada data from April 2024, the province of Saskatchewan leads the country in monthly retail sales growth. Retail sales in April reached $2.2 billion CAD, marking an 8.5% increase compared to March 2024.

Minister of Trade and Export Jeremy Harrison noted that these leading figures indicate a strong and growing provincial economy. He also highlighted the role of retail businesses in meeting consumer needs and driving economic growth, which leads to the creation of new jobs and opportunities for the province's residents.

In addition to the monthly growth, Saskatchewan also showed a significant year-over-year increase, up 5.6% compared to April 2023.

The positive trend in retail sales reflects the overall growth of Saskatchewan's economy, which is also confirmed by other indicators such as investments in construction, real GDP growth, and increased exports. This makes the province an attractive place for investment and business development.
