How did 2023 go in Canada?

Canadians describe it in one word.

The Angus Reid Institute (ARI), which surveys public opinion in Canada, reported that 2023 received mixed reviews.

In a survey of 1,516 Canadians conducted between Dec. 15 and 19, 70% of people reported feeling "happy" or "very happy," down 9% from 2016. Another 27% consider themselves "not too happy."

Financial situation

44% of respondents are dissatisfied with their financial situation. As one might expect, financial unhappiness is much more common in low-income groups than in higher-income groups.

More than half of those whose household income is less than CA$ 50,000 said they are dissatisfied with their finances, and 48% of those living in households with less than CA$ 25,000 per year are very dissatisfied.

Canadians living with children were also less likely to express life satisfaction than those without, especially when it came to how respondents felt about their physical health, leisure time and finances.
