Why is British Columbia the most popular province to live in?

Statistics Canada has reported on how many people have moved to the province and why.

According to Statistics Canada, 34,277 people moved to British Columbia last year. This is the largest net population increase in the province in 28 years.

At the same time, population growth was recorded in all quarters of the year. In the first quarter of 2021, 19,270 people arrived and 10,014 left. In the second quarter, respectively, 31,926 and 16,636. This situation is strikingly different from the pre-pandemic trend.

One reason is the strong economic recovery and job growth compared to other provinces.

To illustrate, one can analyze how the population has changed in other provinces over a similar period.

Alberta lost the most people. In the second quarter of 2021, 23,639 people arrived and 29,086 people left.
