Exciting new movies to watch for free
The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has released a great film selection for July.
In addition to the superb summer weather, July delights all movie lovers with new content available for free on the National Film Board of Canada's website NFB.ca.
A modern love story: "Luben and Helen."
One of the most interesting offerings from NFB studios, valid for audiences all over the country, is the feature-length documentary film by Elly Ionova "Luben and Elena" (75 min), in which the director presents a masterfully shot love story in the realities of today to a wide audience. The main characters are well-known artists Lyuben Boykov and Elena Popova, who managed to escape from repression in communist Bulgaria and find refuge on an island in Newfoundland. However, the plot of the film shows not only a love for art, but something more. This film is about how the main characters learn to love each other and their lives despite the greatest risk of all — to accept any circumstances as due. The documentary has already been screened at a number of Canadian festivals and has garnered many positive reviews.
The NFB site has something for everyone as its thematic channels offer the widest variety of cultural content with over 4000 films already available to watch.
In addition, a fascinating selection of 100 interactive works can be found on the site, most of which are also available to view for free.
What to see in honour of Canada Day
1. Channel "Modern Canada" has picked up six exciting new films for the country, including: "Restoring John Ware" by Cheryl Foggo, Become a Labrador by Rohan Fernando, Tamara Segura and Justin Simms, which illustrate different perspectives on contemporary Canada, showing life in the country in all its diversity.
