British Columbia will host players from teams from Canada, Greece, China, Uruguay, the Czech Republic and Turkey.

B.C. sports fans will be able to watch future Olympic basketball teams compete live. At the end of June, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be held at the Victoria Sports Arena.

"With the Olympic and Paralympic Games set to begin this summer, I'm thrilled that Victoria will be the venue for the Olympic Basketball Qualifiers," said Provincial Premier John Horgan. — Not only will this event give children and young athletes a chance to be inspired by some of the most talented players in the world, but it will also be a great way to show the world that British Columbia is a great place to host safe events as we take the steps necessary to end the pandemic."

FIBA Olympic qualifiers will be held from June 29 to July 4, 2021. The tournament is an important milestone ahead of the 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The province has allocated $650,000 CAD to host the event.

Teams from Canada, Greece, China, Uruguay, Czech Republic and Turkey will compete in a series of games that will earn the winner a spot in the Tokyo Summer Olympics. The tournament will be broadcast on CBC and sports streaming service DAZN.
