Canada launches flash mob to encourage residents to get vaccinated

The Public Health Agency encourages everyone who has already been vaccinated to participate.

In a daily epidemiological situation report, the Public Health Agency of Canada reported that the number of infections across the country continues to decline steadily. Over the past 7 days, the number of cases has dropped by 85% from the peak of the third wave and hospital admissions have dropped by 65%.

However, the Agency notes that variant Delta, aka the Indian strain COVID-19, remains a concern and the only way to remove all restrictions is to achieve collective immunity through vaccination. A total of almost 30 million doses of vaccines have already been administered in Canada.

The Public Health Agency has also launched an online flashmob and encourages everyone in the country to join in. You need to share on social media why you got vaccinated and put the hashtag#MyWhy. In this way doctors want to motivate those who are still hesitant or deliberately refuse to be immunized.

At the same time, Health Minister Patti Haidu announced the launch of the "Ask the Experts" portal, which publishes video answers from leading doctors to Canadians' most popular questions about COVID-19 and vaccination.

While the federal government is launching flash mobs, some provinces have come up with perhaps a more effective motivation. Manitoba and Alberta have launched raffles in which all vaccinated residents can participate — with big cash prizes at stake.
