B.C. residents over 18 can sign up for vaccinations

All age groups can register during the week.

As early as this week, all B.C. adults will have the opportunity to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccination. However, this does not mean they will get vaccinated anytime soon; it could be weeks or even months before they are eligible.

You can register at online portal. The provincial authorities ask that the following schedule be adhered to in order to reduce the strain on the system:

  • April 19, Monday — persons age 40 and over;
  • April 20, Tuesday — persons 35 and older;
  • April 21, Wednesday — persons 30 years and older;
  • April 22, Thursday — persons 25 years and older;
  • April 23, Friday — persons 18 years and older.

To register, you will need to provide your personal health number, zip code, date of birth, and email address or phone number. All registrants will be notified when it is their turn to be vaccinated.

By the end of June, British Columbia aims to vaccinate all residents at least once. As of April 16, 1.2 million people, 23 per cent of the province's population, had received their first dose of the vaccine.

The province now averages 1,000 COVID-19 infections a day, and the number of people in hospitals, including intensive care units, has repeatedly updated anti-record numbers in the past week.
