The new mainstream in British Columbia

How does it relate to the government's eco-plans?

A new trend in British Columbia is electric cars. They are being sold in record numbers in the province. According to a government report, there were 54,000 electric vehicles registered in the region as of December 30, 2020. Sales accounted for about 9.5% of total personal vehicle sales.

If the trend continues, British Columbia could surpass its 2025 goal for zero-emission vehicles. What's more, British Columbia has become North America's leader in the popularity of electric vehicles. This was announced by Energy Minister Bruce Ralston.

But it's not just conscientious residents — B.C. is home to some of the largest public charging networks and hydrogen charging stations in Canada. In addition, there is a rebate system for chargers so that new car owners have less to spend.

The province has a plan for green vehicles that requires manufacturers to increase sales of electric vehicles by 10% by 2025, 30% by 2030 and 100% by 2040.
