Quebec again invited more than a thousand candidates
The province held another major cull.
The Province of Quebec has released the results of the October 26 drawing. As in all recent selections, invitations were sent to a large number of qualified individuals, this time totaling 1,220.
This time, one of three criteria had to be met in order to receive an invitation:
- Have a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs;
- Or have oral French at level 7 in the provincial grading system (above average) and score 465 points in the Arrima grading system, and have one of the suitable occupations:
- Land surveyors;
- Electronic service technicians (household and business equipment);
- Sheet metal workers;
- Boilermakers;
- Ironworkers;
- Welders and related machine operators;
- Electricians (except industrial and power system);
- Telecommunications line and cable workers;
- Steamfitters, pipefitters and sprinkler system installers;
- Carpenters;
- Bricklayers;
- Concrete finishers;
- Tilesetters;
- Plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers;
- Roofers and shinglers;
- Insulators;
- Painters and decorators (except interior decorators);
- Painters and decorators (except interior decorators);
- Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics;
- Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics;
- Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics;
- Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics;
- Crane operators and assistants and construction laborers;
- Autre personnel des métiers et personnel assimilé and other technical occupations and related occupations;
- Other trades and related occupations;
- Construction trades helpers and labourers;
- Or Master oral French at level 7 in the provincial grading system (above average) and score 608 points in the Arrima grading system, and have one of the eligible occupations:
- Computer and information systems managers;
- Civil engineers;
- Mechanical engineers;
- Electrical and electronics engineers;
- Industrial and manufacturing engineers;
- Computer engineers;
- Electrical and electronics engineers, cybersecurity specialists, business systems specialists, information systems specialists, and web designers;
- Database analysts and data administrators;
- Electrical and electronics engineers;
- Computer programmers and interactive media developers, software developers and programmers, and web developers and programmers;
- Web designers and developers;
- Civil engineering technologists and technicians;
- Civil engineering technologists and technicians;
- Industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians;
- Computer networking and web technology specialists;
- User support technicians;
- Information systems testing technicians;
- Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses;
- Licensed practical nurses;
- Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates;
- Secondary school teachers;
- Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates;
- Early childhood educators and assistants;
- Graphic arts technicians;
- Audio and video recording technicians;
- Graphic designers and illustrators.
In the Arrima system, points are awarded for language skills (primarily French), education, work experience, age, profession, and having a job offer in Quebec.
The previous provincial selection was held Sept. 21, at which time, too, those who found work outside of Montreal or had an in-demand profession were chosen.
Quebec is the only province in Canada with its own immigration system. The region sets the criteria for selecting candidates independently of the federal government.
