Quebec again invited 1,000 people to immigrate
All of the province's recent selections are particularly large.
The province of Quebec has released the draw results for skilled workers that took place on August 24.
1,000 candidates received invitations. They had to meet certain requirements:
- have a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs;
- or have oral French proficiency at level 7 in the provincial grading system (above average), score 584 points in the Arrima scoring system, and have one of the suitable occupations.
The list of occupations in this selection was as follows:
- computer and information systems managers;
- construction engineers;
- mechanical engineers;
- industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians;
- industrial and manufacturing engineers;
- computer engineers;
- information systems specialists;
- database analysts and data administrators;
- software engineers and designers;
- computer system developers and programmers;
- web designers;
- web developers;
- civil engineering technologists and technicians;
- mechanical engineering technologists and technicians;
- industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians;
- electrical and electronics engineering technologists and technicians;
- computer networking and web technology specialists;
- user support technicians;
- registered nurses and psychiatric nurses;
- licensed practical nurses;
- nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates;
- secondary school teachers;
- elementary school and kindergarten teachers;
- early childhood educators and assistants;
- graphic arts technicians;
- audio and video recording professionals;
- graphic designers and illustrators.
Quebec conducted the previous selection on August 10. Invitations were issued regardless of candidates' occupations, but the passing score was slightly higher.
Quebec is the only region in Canada with its own immigration system that sets the criteria for selecting applicants independently of the federal government.
In the Arrima system, points are awarded for language skills (primarily French), education, work experience, age, occupation, and availability of a job offer in Quebec.
