Manitoba issues more than 500 immigration invitations
Specialists and university graduates, including those with professions in demand, were lucky this time.
On May 4, the province of Manitoba held an immigration draw in which it invited 539 people. There was a general drawing for all applicants and a targeted drawing for certain professions.
Candidates from several streams participated in the overall selection process:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba — 199 invitations, a minimum score of 650;
- Skilled Workers Overseas — 49 invitations, a minimum score of 699;
- international education stream — 39 invitations, no minimum score required:
The targeted selections included 252 skilled workers in Manitoba who scored 606 points and had occupations in the following areas:
- administrative and financial supervisors and specialized administrative occupations;
- technical professions related to natural and applied sciences;
- middle management occupations in trades and transportation.
Of the total number of invitations sent out, 204 were issued to candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system.
The previous selection in Manitoba was held on April 20. The passing scores for all streams have not changed much. The province awards points for experience, age, language skills, education, connections to the province and other parts of Canada. Also on April 27, Manitoba conducted a separate drawing for skilled workers overseas.
