Quebec has selected in-demand immigration candidates
The new draw has a slightly lower passing score.
Quebec shared the results of its immigration draw, which took place on December 1. The invitations were received by 513 candidates from the Skilled Worker stream.
This time, those applicants who met the following criteria were selected:
- a minimum of 589 points in the Arrima system;
- priority occupation;
- a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs.
The priority occupations chosen were:
- computer and information systems managers;
- computer engineers;
- civil construction engineers;
- mechanical engineers;
- electrical and electronics engineers;
- industrial and manufacturing engineers;
- civil engineering technologists and technicians;
- mechanical engineering technologists and technicians;
- industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians;
- information systems specialists;
- database analysts and data administrators;
- programmers and designers;
- programmers and computer systems developers;
- web designers;
- web developers;
- technologists and technicians in electrical and electronic engineering;
- computer networking and web technology specialists;
- user support technicians;
- registered nurses;
- licensed practical nurses;
- nurse aides, orderlies;
- secondary school teachers;
- elementary school and kindergarten teachers;
- early childhood educators and assistants;
- graphic designers and illustrators;
- technical sales specialists in wholesale trade.
The previous draw in Quebec was on November 24. It did not have a list of occupations — only a job offer outside of Montreal and a minimum score of 603 in Arrima were required.
Quebec is the only province in Canada that has its own immigration system and is empowered to set its criteria for selecting candidates independently of the federal government. Under the new immigration plan, Quebec will aim to welcome 52,500 immigrants in 2023.
