The province of Ontario has a new draw for healthcare professionals
Several hundred people will be able to obtain a Canadian permanent residence permit.
On March 9, the province of Ontario held an immigration draw under the provincial immigration program for the Human Capital Priorities stream. This stream operates through the Express Entry system and is intended for skilled professionals in demand in the province.
A total of 822 invitations were sent to candidates with medical occupations who scored between 469 and 489 on the Comprehensive Ranking System.
The previous draw for the Human Capital Priorities stream was held on February 2, and the passing scores were slightly higher, ranging from 481 to 489. Points are awarded for education, age, work experience, language skills, and other factors.
The list of suitable occupations in the new draw:
- managers in health care;
- specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine;
- specialists in surgery;
- general practitioners and family physicians;
- veterinarians;
- dentists;
- optometrists;
- audiologists and speech-language pathologists;
- pharmacists;
- dietitians and nutritionists;
- chiropractors;
- physiotherapists;
- occupational therapists;
- kinesiologists;
- professional occupations in health diagnosing and treating;
- nursing coordinators and supervisors;
- registered nurses;
- nurse practitioners;
- physician assistants and midwives;
- opticians;
- licensed practical nurses;
- paramedical occupations;
- respiratory therapists, clinical perfusionists, and cardiopulmonary technologists;
- animal health technologists and veterinary techniques;
- technical occupations in therapy and assessment;
- denturists;
- dental hygienists and dental therapists;
- dental technologists and techniques;
- medical laboratory technologists;
- medical radiation technology;
- medical sonographers;
- cardiology technologists and electrophysiology diagnostic technologists;
- pharmacy technicians;
- medical technologists and technicians;
- traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists;
- massage therapists;
- practitioners of natural healing;
- Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants;
- medical laboratory assistants;
- nurse aides and orderlies;
- pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants;
- assisting occupations in support of health services.
