Most demanded and paid occupations in Canada and other news

The most demanded and paid occupations in Canada, reasons to move to Canada, and other news.

The Canadian passport ranked 8th among the strongest in the world. 185 visa-free countries are open for Canadian citizens. In addition, low-cost flights for only 170 Canadian dollars from Canada to Europe are promised in the summer.

Statistics Canada analyzed which items Canadians spent more money on in 2022. Fuel came first, followed by cars, food, gardening and home improvement supplies, and clothing. The least of all expenses were for the purchase of household appliances, utensils, and furniture.

One of the main spending for immigrants is housing. It's expensive in major Canadian cities. But there're places where renting or buying real estate is cheaper.

Wage and work in Canada

Canada raises the minimum wage every year. However, its amount varies by province. As of early 2023, the minimum wage is between 13 and 16 Canadian dollars per hour. Apart from the northern territories, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario pay the most.

The country is testing a 4-day work week. So far, the results show that employees who work 4 days are less likely to quit and truant, but become more productive. But for many workers, the wage is still more important than a work schedule.

Canada needs skilled specialists. Due to a shortage in healthcare, Canada is ready to simplify employment for nurses with international degrees. The government of British Columbia will cover the costs of obtaining a license. And in Ontario, foreign nurses will be able to start working even before the full license is issued. The provincial government will also cover exams and registration fees.

Many in-demand occupations in Canada are also well-paid. Specialists in the needed sectors can earn more than 100,000 Canadian dollars a year. We analyzed various studies and compiled a list of highly paid occupations.

Employment opportunities

If you don't know how to contact Canadian companies and get them interested, a job fair is a great option. There you can personally meet with employers and have an interview. The province of New Brunswick has announced 3 more fairs. They will be held in France, Senegal, and Morocco, but are open to citizens of all countries.

Another opportunity is suitable for young people from Europe, South America, and some Asian countries. They can go to work in Canada under a special program International Experience Canada. On January 9, the 2023 visa season started. In total, Canada intends to approve 90,000 candidates.

Canada has decided to extend its successful Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot until 2024. The advantage of the program is that the requirements for candidates are low, and living in small towns is usually cheaper. Employers are interested in creating conditions for retaining immigrants.

There're many reasons why you should move to Canada. Good wages and a high standard of living are only a small part of the advantages. We talked about 10 reasons to think about immigration this year.

Immigration selections

On January 10, British Columbia held a targeted draw and invited 150 people. Among them were tech workers, childhood educators, healthcare specialists, and veterinarians.

On the same day, Ontario invited 404 candidates. Of these, 402 invitations were received by foreign workers with in-demand technical and trades occupations. The remaining 2 invitations were sent to skilled refugees.

On January 11, Canada held a major draw in the Express Entry system. The number of invitations was 5,500, which is much more than in previous rounds. But the passing score went up to 507. Due to a technical failure, there were no Express Entry draws for more than a month.

The next day, a draw took place in Manitoba. The province sent out 322 invitations. They were received by skilled workers in the provinces, skilled workers overseas, and university graduates.

On January 13, Ontario again held a draw. This time, the region selected 1,252 people among workers in certain trades occupations.
