Selection for in-demand occupations in British Columbia
The province has sent out another batch of invitations.
On Oct. 24, British Columbia sent out up to 162 invitations to skilled workers and international graduates as part of its provincial program. Some applicants were registered in the federal Express Entry system.
Invitations were distributed among the following professions:
- Tech Workers — 101 invitations;
- Early Childhood Educators and Assistants — 34 invitations;
- Healthcare Professionals — 22 invitations;
- other specialties (including veterinarians, zootechnicians and veterinary technicians) — less than 5 invitations.
As in the Oct. 11 selections, applicants with technical occupations needed to score 90 points under the provincial scoring system, while other candidates needed 60 points. Points are awarded for work experience, education, language skills, employer location and salary.
Last week October 17, British Columbia held a general screening for all categories of applicants.
Selection for entrepreneurs
At the same day, October 24, in the draw for business people, British Columbia sent invitations in two categories. In the Base Category, less than 5 individuals were selected who scored 116 points in the scoring system. The Base Category requires candidates to have business experience, a net worth of CA$ 600,000 or more, and a business investment of CA$ 200,000 or more.
In the Regional Stream, less than 5 invitations were sent to candidates who scored 112 points. The Regional Stream is designed for entrepreneurs who want to do business in small towns in the province. It requires business management experience, a net worth of CA$ 300,000 CAD or more, and an investment of CA$ 100,000 or more.
The last draw for entrepreneurs was held on September 12, the minimum scores for both streams were slightly lower.
