Immigration to British Columbia through the Entrepreneur Immigration — Regional Pilot program

Entrepreneurs wishing to invest in a new business in British Columbia can immigrate to Canada through the Regional Pilot.

The Entrepreneur Immigration — Regional Pilot stream is designed to attract entrepreneurs to small towns (communities) in British Columbia and develop businesses there. A foreign investor can obtain permanent residency through the Regional Pilot by investing in a business in towns with a population of less than 75,000 people located at least 30 km from towns with a population of more than 75,000 people.

Program features

The candidate must invest in a new business in one of the participating communities, each with its own list of priority businesses.

You should apply directly to the community you chose. If the community representatives decide that you may meet their requirements, they may invite you to an introductory visit. If after the visit you are still interested in immigrating to the town, you can request a community referral, which allows you to participate in the Regional Pilot and apply for permanent residency.

Eligibility

To immigrate to Canada through the Entrepreneur Immigration — Regional Pilot, you must meet the following requirements:

  • establish a new business in one of the communities according to its needs, you must own at least 51% of the company;
  • have experience in owning or managing a business;
  • have a minimum of $300,000 CAD net worth and be ready to invest $100,000 CAD or more in the business;
  • create at least one job within the business;
  • demonstrate English or French ability at the CLB 4 level.

Business requirements

The main goal of the project should be making a profit by providing products or services. The business must have commercial potential. Some businesses do not qualify for the program:
