British Columbia held a draw on Valentine's Day
Who did the province invite?
On February 14, British Columbia held a new draw under the provincial immigration program. This time it was targeted at in-demand professions.
A total of 237 people were selected in the drawing who applied for the following streams:
The invitations were distributed as follows:
- tech workers — 183 invitations;
- early childhood educators and assistants — 29 invitations;
- healthcare professionals — 20 invitations;
- veterinarians and veterinary technicians — less than 5 invitations.
Technicians needed to score 83 points on the scoring system. Compared to the previous drawing, which was held on January 31, the passing score was reduced by 2 points. The other candidates required a score of 55. This is the lowest score since British Columbia began holding targeted draws.
The province awards points for education, language skills, work experience, employer's location in the province, and the wage offered. It is mandatory to have a job offer in British Columbia.
