British Columbia Immigration Selection
Specialists of in-demand professions received invitations.
On July 5, British Columbia sent out invitations to apply for nomination. The nomination gives 600 extra points in the Express Entry system, which means an almost complete guarantee of a permanent residence permit.
The province sent out:
- 100 invitations to technicians;
- 21 — early childhood educators and assistants;
- 7 — health care professionals;
- less than 5 — veterinarians, animal health technologists and veterinary technicians.
The province sent out a total of 133 invitations in this drawing.
Candidates were selected from those eligible to participate in streams for skilled professionals and graduates of Canadian universities. Health care workers were also selected from participants in the stream for low— and intermediate-skilled professionals, but they were then required to have at least nine months of full-time work experience in British Columbia. All professionals and graduates had a provincial job offer and enough money to support themselves and dependent family members.
The passing score for technicians was 85, for others it was 60. British Columbia evaluates candidates using its own system, which takes into account not only experience in the specialty, education, and knowledge of the official languages of Canada, but also the amount of the salary offered.
The last time B.C. held an immigration raffle June 28, 182 people received invitations. The province invited a total of 4,409 people this year. Follow the province's selection history to increase your chances of immigration.
