B.C. raises the passing score for I.T. students
For 2021, the province invited approximately 11,000 candidates to immigrate.
On November 30, British Columbia sent 89 invitations under the provincial immigration program. Luck favored candidates in the Technical Program, which is designed for IT workers.
The drawing was held among the following categories:
- skilled workers;
- graduates;
- skilled workers who applied through Express Entry;
- graduates who applied through Express Entry.
The minimum passing score in all categories was 78 — three points higher than in the previous selection, which took place on November 16. Prior to that, the passing score had remained unchanged for several consecutive drawings.
To participate in the Technical Immigration Program, applicants must register with one of British Columbia's immigration streams and receive a job offer in one of 29 eligible occupations. They are also assessed on a number of factors: level of education, language skills, work experience and availability of a job offer.
To increase your chances of receiving an invitation from British Columbia, we recommend that you keep an eye on history of pass rates and number of invitations.
