British Columbia holds a record selection for the Technical Programme
This is the first time the province has invited so many candidates.
On October 5, the British Columbia Immigration Program sent out 108 invitations to apply for a nomination from the province. The selection was for the Technical Program, which is for IT workers.
The drawing was held among the following categories:
- skilled workers;
- graduates;
- skilled workers who applied through Express Entry;
- graduates who applied through Express Entry.
The minimum passing score in all categories was 70 — down 10 points from the previous selection held on September 21. The passing score in the last selection was the lowest for 2021, while the number of invitations was a record.
To participate in the Technical Immigration Program, applicants must register with one of British Columbia's immigration streams and receive a job offer in one of 29 eligible occupations. They are also assessed on a number of factors: level of education, language skills, work experience and availability of a job offer.
