Ontario invites in-demand professionals
The province made its second selection of the year in this stream.
On September 22, the Ontario Immigration Programme issued 72 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. The drawing was held among participants in the in-demand stream. This selection, unlike previous, had no passing points in the Expression of Interest system.
7 of the 72 invitations were issued under the regional immigration pilot, which allows you to move to one of the three rural areas of the province (Chatham-Kent, Cornwall, Quint West/Belleville). Points for this stream are not as required.
All of the invited participants had a job that was in high demand in Ontario and were offered a job in the province. Applicants were also evaluated on factors such as job offer and salary, location of employer, work experience in Canada.
Candidates with the following professions could receive an offer in any community in Ontario:
- nurse assistants, orderlies;
- sitting;
- farm workers;
- workers in nurseries and greenhouses;
- harvesters;
- industrial butchers.
Candidates with a number of other occupations were only considered if they received a job offer outside of the Greater Toronto Area:
- operators of metalworking machines;
- machining and forging machine operators;
- mechanical machine operators;
- other metalworking machine operators;
- operators in chemical production;
- plastics processing machine operators;
- woodworking machine operators;
- operators of industrial sewing machines;
- food and beverage processing operators;
- assemblers, fabricators, electronics testers;
- machine assemblers and inspectors;
- industrial painters;
