Immigration to Ontario by Regional Immigration Pilot
The Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot Program has begun accepting applications! What regions of Ontario are eligible to immigrate to and what are the requirements?
The Regional Immigration Pilot allows candidates to immigrate to one of three Ontario communities:
- Chatham-Kent;
- Cornwall;
- Quint West/Belleville.
The aim of the pilot program is to connect highly skilled immigrants with jobs in small and rural Ontario communities. Three municipalities were selected based on their specific labour market needs, ability to help new immigrants adapt to the province and interest from employers.
The pilot program will run for two years, during which about 150 nominations will be issued.
Program requirements
To be eligible to participate in the regional pilot, candidates must meet the criteria for one of the Employer Job Offer candidate category streams provincial Ontario program:
- flow for foreign skilled workers (Foreign Worker);
- flow for specialists in in-demand professions (In-Demand Skills);
- stream for foreign graduates of Ontario universities (International Student)
To apply for the regional immigration pilot, applicants must complete the registration form and send it by email to Ontario.

"Regionalization" of immigration is not unique to Ontario. It is the target of several similar pilots across Canada, including the Atlantic Immigration Pilot and the Rural and Northern Canada Immigration Program.
