First selection for in-demand professionals in Ontario
The province has invited candidates for the new stream.
On July 15, the Ontario Immigration Programme sent out 55 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. The drawing was held among participants in the required professionals stream.
The passing score on the Expression of Interest system was 11. This is the first selection that took place under this stream since the province of Ontario announced late last month changes to the candidate evaluation system.
1 of 55 invitations were issued under the regional immigration pilot, which can be used to obtain a permanent residence permit in one of the three rural areas of the province (Chatham-Kent, Cornwall, Quint West/Belleville). No points are required for this stream.
All of the invited participants had a job that was in high demand in Ontario and were offered a job in the province. Applicants were also evaluated on factors such as job offer and salary, location of employer, work experience in Canada.
