Canada's response to the war in Israel, new job fairs and more news

The most important events of the week of October 2-8.

Perhaps the main topic of last week, which was actively discussed around the world, was the attack on Israel by the Palestinian group Hamas.

Like many countries, Canada has sided with Israel and condemned the Palestinian attacks. Officials and representatives from different parties, including the country's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have spoken out in support of Israel. Canada is also closely monitoring the situation and asking Canadians in the conflict zone to exercise caution.

Right now more than 1,400 Canadians are in Israel and about 500 are in the Palestinian territories. The greatest danger is now in southern Israel, but the situation could escalate in the north as well. Among those affected are citizens of the UK, France, Ukraine, and Germany.

Conflicts in Canada

India-Canada relations continue to deteriorate. Back in September, Canada accused Indian authorities of being involved in the murder of a Sikh separatist who was living in Canada. This started the conflict. Now India demands that Canada recall most of its diplomats within a week. The Canadian government, on the other hand, is counting on diplomatic negotiations.

Canada elected a new Speaker of Parliament to replace Anthony Rota, who resigned over an incident honoring a nazi veteran. Liberal Party candidate Greg Fergus was named the new Speaker. The position of Speaker is designed to maintain order and fairness in Parliament, they are also responsible for finances.

Life in Canada

5 Canadian cities are included in the list of the world's best cities. The ranking was published by Bloomberg, it takes into account such factors as attractiveness for living, working, and recreation. The best city in Canada is Toronto, which took the 23 place in the overall ranking. It is followed by Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary.

Canada's unemployment rate is dropping thanks to immigrants. This is especially noticeable in British Columbia and Quebec. Along with employment, average hourly wages have risen. The largest number of new jobs were in education, transportation, and warehousing.

More great news for immigrants. Canada is going to implement reform of the immigration system. The goal is to make the system more efficient, fair, and understandable for those who want to move to Canada or already live here. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will be divided into different departments: economic and family migration, refugee resettlement, information services, citizenship issues, and so on.

Job fairs

Last week, the provinces of Canada seemed to have decided to get serious about finding workers from abroad. Several job fairs were announced to be held in different countries.

Quebec launches job fairs in Montreal. On October 12 and 13, there will be a fair for candidates with different occupations such as baker, concrete worker, electrician, hairdresser, machinist, and many others.

Prince Edward Island announced a job fair for professionals from various fields. It will be held from October 18 to 24 in Singapore. Workers in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, and other fields can participate.

New Brunswick will hold recruiting events in Brussels on November 26 and 27. The province wants to attract registered nurses, medical laboratory technologists, and medical laboratory assistants. The province later announced more job fairs for healthcare professionals. The events will be held on November 19 in London, on November 21 and 22 in Belfast, and on November 24 in Dublin.

Immigration draws

The provinces of Canada once again pleased candidates with a large number of draws and invitations for permanent residency.

On October 3, Alberta held a drawing for candidates with an offer of a job in agriculture. 33 people received invitations.

On October 4, British Columbia held a selection in which it sent out 191 invitations. The draw was for workers of various qualifications and international graduates. Separately, the province selected educators, healthcare professionals, and veterinarians.

On October 5, the Prince Edward Island draw was held. The region invited skilled workers, critical workers and international graduates. There were only 20 invitations this time, and the selected candidates had to have professions in healthcare or food processing.

On the same day, Manitoba sent out 542 invitations to candidates with in-demand occupations, skilled workers in the province and overseas, and international graduates.
