Alberta invited agricultural workers

The province has made selections for in-demand occupations.

The Province of Alberta released details of a drawing held on Oct. 3. It selected candidates with a job offer in agriculture.

A total of 33 invitations were sent to applicants with 313 points or more in the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded for factors such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and so on.

Applicants must also have a Express Entry profile and meet the requirements of one of the federal immigration programs:

Alberta's previous selection process was held Sept. 29, for medics, and the pass rate for them was about the same — just two points lower. And the province last invited candidates with professions in agriculture on Aug. 1, at which time the pass mark was 322.

Under its provincial immigration system, Alberta selects applicants who have close family ties to the province or who are in high-demand occupations such as healthcare, construction, agriculture, hospitality and tourism, and technical professionals. Preference is given to applicants with a job offer in the province.
