British Columbia held its first selection of October
Different categories of applicants received invitations.
On Oct. 4, British Columbia sent out another batch of invitations under its provincial program — up to 191 invitations in total. Some applicants were registered in the federal Express Entry system.
The 110 invitations were distributed as follows:
- Skilled Workers (including those registered in the Express Entry system) — minimum score 111;
- International Graduates (including those registered in the Express Entry system) — minimum score of 113;
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled — minimum score of 91.
Another 81 candidates (or less) received invitations due to their in-demand occupation. The minimum score for them was 60:
- early childhood educators and assistants — 51 invitations;
- healthcare professionals — 25 invitations;
- other specialties (including veterinarians, zootechnicians and veterinary technicians) — less than 5 invitations.
Points are awarded for work experience, education, language skills, employer location and salary.
B.C. holds the selections weekly, with the last time invitations were sent out September 26. The cutoff scores don't fluctuate too much: they remain unchanged for in-demand occupations, but for general draw cutoff has increased by two points in each category compared to the September 19 round .
