For the first time ever, the Express Entry selection in the agri-food sector took place
You've never seen such low pass rates before!
Canada has held another selection of federal program candidates through the Express Entry system, but not the usual one, but a targeted one. As promised yesterday, for the first time ever, there was a drawing among candidates with experience in agriculture and agri-food industry. 600 invitations were sent out.
Express Entry is Canada's system for selecting applicants for federal immigration programs. There are three programs:
Today, candidates who scored at least 354 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System received their invitations. This figure is encouraging — usually it is much higher. By comparison, September 27 Canada invited French-speaking professionals, for whom the minimum score was 472. And before that, September 26, it was necessary to get from 531 points as part of the general selection.
In order to qualify for selection of professionals in the agri-food sector, one must be qualified to work in one of the required professions — full list here. Candidates must also have at least six months of work experience in the specified occupation in the last three years.
The selection in the agri-food sector is the sixth and last of the targeted selections promised this summer. Previously, the immigration ministry has already successfully held such draws for French-speaking candidates, healthcare, science, technology, engineering and math occupations, working trades, and transportation specialists.
