The first Express Entry draw for trades workers
Passing scores are very low!
On August 3, Canada held its first Express Entry draw for a new category — candidates with trades occupations.
Invitations were extended to 1,500 people who scored between 388 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System. This is a very low score, it was lower only in the selection for French-speaking applicants that took place on July 12.
Trades occupations are one of the Express Entry target selection categories. In addition to trades professions, applicants with French language skills are prioritized, as well as professions in healthcare, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, transportation, and agriculture.
Earlier this week, immigration draws were held for all applicants, as well as for applicants with French proficiency.
The Express Entry system is used in Canada to process applications and issue invitations to candidates for three federal programs:
The Federal Skilled Trades program and priority trades occupations are different. The list of priority occupations is much smaller than just those qualifying for the Federal Skilled Trades program.
