Professionals and entrepreneurs can obtain PR in British Columbia

The province has issued new invitations.

On August 1, the province of British Columbia held two selections. One was for skilled workers and international graduates, and another one was for entrepreneurs. A total of 199 invitations to immigrate were issued.

The first draw was a targeted one. This means that the province selected only candidates with in-demand professions:

Technicians needed to score 88 points on the provincial scoring system. Others only needed 60 points. British Columbia awards points for education, language skills, work experience, employer location, and salary.

The province's previous targeted selection was held on July 19, with no change in minimum scores. And on July 25, there was a general draw for candidates with all professions.

In the selection for entrepreneurs, invitations were sent to candidates in two categories. Less than 5 persons were selected in the base category. They scored 117 or more in the evaluation system. Candidates need to have business experience, a net worth of CAD 600,000 or more, and invest CAD 200,000 or more in the business.
