The Bank of Canada says Canadian families are in arrears on mortgages, which could be bad for the financial system. At the same time, the Bank of Canada has not ruled out new key rate hikes.
Controversy in Canada
Two topics at once have recently stirred much controversy in Canada. Canadian scholar Jordan Peterson, internationally known for his controversial opinions on gender identity, male and female roles, and the like, faced numerous attempts to "cancel." A Kelowna city councilman initiated a petition to cancel his scheduled speech. Earlier, Peterson was blocked by Twitter.
In Canada, the abortion debate has erupted over a bill on an entirely different topic. MP Cathay Wagantall has put forward a proposal to take physical and emotional harm into account in court when dealing with cases of assault on pregnant women. Wagantall is known for opposing women's right to abortion. Therefore, many have decided that this bill could set the stage for future restrictions on abortion.

Pros and cons of Canada
A huge problem in Canada is expensive housing. Fortunately, not all regions are affected. A recent analysis of the real estate market shows that in the coming years, the most affordable housing will be in the Canadian Prairies. They include three provinces: Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. You can buy a house in these regions for less than CAD 470,000, which is very budget-friendly for Canada.

Immigration draws
On May 16, British Columbia held an immigration drawing for workers of various qualifications and foreign graduates. A total of 202 people were chosen. Some of them are with in-demand professions: educators and healthcare professionals.
Four more selections in different provinces took place on May 18. Manitoba issued 526 invitations. They were received by skilled workers in the province, skilled workers overseas, and university graduates. Some of the selected candidates had in-demand professions — drivers of trucks, buses, and other ground transport.
The province of Ontario selected 1,694 professionals in trades occupations. The list of priority occupations included supervisors, metal workers, welders, electricians, and many other professions.
Prince Edward Island invited 159 candidates in its drawing for skilled workers, critical workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs.
Saskatchewan conducted a large drawing, selecting 1,044 applicants with a profile in Express Entry and professionals with in-demand occupations. All invitees had to have one of the appropriate professions from the list.
