Unique immigration program with no eligibility requirements

Free housing in Canada, help with moving and learning English.

Last year, a little-popular Canadian region announced a unique immigration program with such conditions in order to attract more people. Now the program has been launched. Let's see where Canadian officials lied and where they kept their promises.

In November 2022, a new immigration pilot was announced by the province of New Brunswick. No requirements were known at the time. The government wrote that the program would be for workers in some important and in-demand occupations. It said there would be a list of employers who would invite foreigners to work, and they would be required to help you with relocation, housing, language training, and on-the-job training.

Advantages of the program

Now the pilot is up and running, and you can move under it. So let me tell you if everything is as great as the New Brunswick government promised, and what are the pros and cons of this program. The program is called the Critical Worker Immigration Pilot. It will be in effect for the next 5 years. Then it will either be extended or canceled. Usually, such pilots are renewed if they have been successful. It is intended for workers in fields that are hard to fill with local workers.

Among pros, there is a list of employers to find a job with. Now it includes 6 companies that, according to the New Brunswick website, have proven themselves and have been hiring foreigners for at least the last 3 years. What's more, these companies have helped workers with relocation to Canada, provided vocational and language training. So employers will really help you with everything. So the program is really unique.

Another plus is that there are still no requirements for candidates. No requirements at all. The only thing you have to do is find a job with one of the 6 companies. Of course, this is also not quite easy, because at least you must have a profession that an employer needs, a suitable education, and a good Canadian-format CV, which will be of interest to the company. You also have to know English, at least at a basic level, to pass the interview.

Disadvantages of the program

The first disadvantage is that you can't apply for the program yourself. If you sign a work contract with one of the companies, then the company itself must apply for you to immigrate. It may be easier for you, but because you cannot apply yourself, there is no information at all about how many people will be accepted under this program, whether they will be somehow evaluated, whether there are any points, and so on.

The second downside is that the pilot is very limited. If you look at the Atlantic Immigration Program, for example, which also has a list of participating employers, there are huge documents in each province listing dozens, if not hundreds, of companies where you can look for work. In New Brunswick, there are only 6 such companies, and no applications are accepted from new companies that would like to hire foreigners. So how many people will actually end up moving through this program is unknown.

It's time to act

The good news is that companies have open positions right now. So if something suits you, you shouldn't procrastinate, because there are probably a lot of applicants.
