The number of those wishing to immigrate to Canada has increased several times

According to a Gallup poll, Canada was ranked as the second most popular place to immigrate.

For decades, the U.S. has led the way in immigration. In recent years, the number of those wishing to move to another country has reached 900 million people. But in a recent survey, 8% of those surveyed said they would love to move to Canada rather than the U.S. In 2011, only 5% of all respondents considered Canada for relocation. Perhaps this trend is due to former U.S. President Donald Trump's anti-immigration policies. The number of immigrants in this country fell from 22% to 18%.

Among the most popular destinations for immigration stand out such countries as Spain, France, Germany, Japan and Australia: from 3% to 7% of respondents.

Over the past 10 years, the number of those wishing to emigrate has increased from 12% to 16%, although residents of the European Union and East Asia have shown a declining trend in the number of those wishing to leave their native country.

After the pandemic, migration resumed at the same rate as before COVID-19. For example, between 2021 and 2022, the number of immigrants moving to the United States exceeded 1 million.

Of those surveyed, 76% of respondents from Sierra Leone would like to emigrate somewhere, followed by Lebanon at 63%, with Afghanistan in third place with 53% of those wishing to leave the country.

It is worth noting that there is a significant difference between those who intend to emigrate and those who would like to. The second category of citizens does not see an opportunity to do so because of finances, family, language and employment difficulties.

Canada's immigration goals are highly publicized, which is why the country is so attractive to foreigners. All of the goals are billed to combat labour shortages due to an ageing population and low born rates. So the authorities are improving the tax base to maintain social services.

In 2022, the number of permanent residents increased by 437,000. In 2023 the government intends to admit 465,000 people. Therefore, Canada will invite more immigrants, which means that there may be some easing of the immigration process.
