Canada rescues Afghans and offers them permanent residency
More and more citizens of Afghanistan are coming to the country for permanent residence under special programs.
The Canadian government remains committed to accepting at least 40,000 refugees from Afghanistan in Canada. Specially designed programs for these categories of immigrants are designed to protect residents and provide a safe method of resettlement.
3 main directions:
- a special immigration program for Afghans who actively cooperated with the Canadian government in Afghanistan — 18,000;
- humanitarian program for refugees, which includes aid from the government and private individuals;
- the PML for family members who worked as interpreters is 5,000.
The government intends to continue exploring other options and ways to attract Afghans to Canada, such as the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, EMPP). Figures as of December 14, 2022, show 26,735 Afghans had arrived in the country.
It is important to note that the interaction on the program between international and Canadian partners goes on without a direct appeal from citizens to the Canadian government. Applicants must pass a criminal background check and a medical commission.
The Canadian government proudly announces its assistance to Afghans and the accomplishments that have been made in resettling refugees. For the system to work and for refugees to adapt easily to another country, immigration services actively cooperate with provinces, interested employers, private sponsors and charitable organizations.
A simplified entry permit CUAET is available for Ukrainian citizens. A specially designed method allows faster processing of the application and obtaining an open work or study permit. Between March 17 and December 6, IRCC approved 45,1258 applications from Ukrainian citizens under the simplified permit.
Everyone in Canada can get involved: help with employment and resettlement, donate clothes or money, come to refugee shelters and help as much as they can. More information can be found on the government's official website.
