British Columbia held two draws at once

Candidates from several streams received invitations.

On January 24, British Columbia held two drawings under the provincial immigration program. One draw was for workers and graduates, and the other one was for entrepreneurs. The total number of invitations is 285.

221 candidates were selected in the general drawing for workers and graduates in the following streams:

The minimum score for all candidates was 102, and for entry-level and semi-skilled workers it was 82. In the previous draw, which was held on January 17, the passing score was slightly higher.

Another 54 invitations were distributed among candidates with priority occupations that scored at least 60 points:

The passing scores have not changed compared to the previous draw.

British Columbia awards points for education, language skills, work experience, employer location, and wage offered. All candidates must have a job offer in the province.

The remaining 10 invitations were sent to entrepreneurs. Less than 5 invitations went to Base Category entrepreneurs who scored at least 115 points. They must have experience managing a business, have a net worth of at least $600,000 CAD, and be willing to invest $200,000 CAD or more in the company.

British Columbia also sent less than 5 invitations to entrepreneurs under the Regional Pilot, which is designed for those who want to do business in small towns. Candidates must have experience managing a business, have a net worth of at least $300,000 CAD, and be willing to invest $100,000 CAD or more. The passing score was 129.

The previous round of invitations for entrepreneurs was held on December 13. Passing scores for both categories have decreased.
