News of the week: new immigration program and iPhone giveaway

A new immigration program for one occupation, hate towards the Canadian Prime Minister, New Year's giveaway, and other news.

A New Year's gift from our project. We're giving away a new iPhone. Read to the end to find out the conditions.

A wave of hate hit Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister. He visited a food bank, a charitable organization where people can take groceries for free, and thanked the volunteers for their work. Canadians took this very negatively and accused Trudeau of making life in the country more difficult during his governorship.

Meanwhile, the government is considering a ban on the TikTok social network in Canada. The authorities think the app can be used for misinformation, manipulation, and espionage.

Living in Canada

A survey was conducted among Canadians to find out if they are afraid of old age and retirement. The results are generally positive. 70% of Canadians are proud of their relationships with relatives and friends, so they're not afraid of loneliness. But 30% of people say they've experienced ageism at work, and 40% are concerned about future health problems. By the way, Canada is among the top countries most favourable for retirees.

On January 1, a ban on the purchase of real estate for foreigners comes into force in Canada. This should cool the housing market. But the new law doesn't apply to everyone. Immigrants, spouses of immigrants, foreign workers, and international students will be able to buy real estate.

Getting a visa to Canada

We're often asked how much a visa to Canada costs. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. You can't buy a visa, you can only obtain it on certain grounds. We talked about how to get a visitor, study, and work visa, what fees the Canadian government takes, and how much it costs to submit documents through our company.

From 2023, the rules for appealing decisions on the refusal of visas and deportation from Canada are changing. An appeal can be filed to the Immigration Appeal Division or federal court. At the same time, the deadlines for submitting documents are increasing for applicants, and the time for making decisions for the Division is decreasing.

Record immigration

Canada shows a record pace of immigration. In the first 9 months of this year, almost 340,000 immigrants arrived in the country. And the total population increased by 776,000 people. This is the highest figure in the last 65 years.

The province of Nova Scotia launched an Early Childhood Educators Immigration Pilot. On December 20, the first invitations were sent to candidates. To receive an invitation, you need to fulfil some requirements.

Canada started accepting applications for the International Experience Canada program, which allows youth to obtain a work visa to Canada without a job offer. Citizens of 36 countries are eligible. The first round of invitations will take place on January 9.

Immigration draws

There were a lot of draws again last week.

On December 19, the province of Ontario issued 936 invitations under the Human Capital Priority Stream. This is a program that selects specialists in demand in the labour market. This time, IT professions were needed.

On December 21, Ontario held another drawing, in which 725 Masters graduates were selected. The passing score was the highest in 2022. The next day, the province issued 14 more invitations for entrepreneurs.

On December 20, British Columbia selected 173 in-demand skilled workers and graduates. Most of the invitees were tech workers. The rest of the participants in the draw were childhood educators and healthcare professionals.

On December 21, a round of invitations took place in Saskatchewan. The region invited 468 people with specific occupations. The list includes managers, office workers, tech, science, agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing professionals, and more.
