The number of new arrivals to Canada in 2022 is encouraging
The migration policy is working. In the last quarter, the growth rate showed the highest rate since 1957.
Statistics show that the number of residents was estimated at 39,292,355 through the fourth quarter. Figures as of October 1, 2022, show that Canada's population increased by 362,453 people, an increase of one person (0.9%) since July 1, 2022.
If we compare this to 2011, during which 350,253 people arrived, the leap is significant over the past three months.
During the 9 months of 2022, the population increased by 776,217 people. Due to international migration — by almost 340,000 people. In the second quarter of 2022, 157,310 people were admitted; in the third quarter, 122,145 immigrants were.
This increase was also due to the issuance of various work permits, and refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In all provinces and territories, the number increased:
- at Ontario for 106,459;
- in British Columbia by 39,429;
- in Albert by 19,285;
- in Quebec by 34,299.
But there are still problems. For example, the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia have a significant outflow of residents due to interprovincial migration.
