Canada promises to solve immigration problems and make it easier for some professionals to find employment. These and other news are in our weekly compilation.

Alberta's authorities will help residents fight inflation. Families will receive $600 CAD for each senior, each child, and adults who receive disability or indigence assistance. In addition, the fuel tax will be temporarily abolished, there will be discounts on heating and electricity, and the income tax will be indexed.

Prince Edward Island also helps its population. Over the next five years, some residents will receive a property tax credit. This will affect newly built houses. Homeowners will be able to save over $5,000 CAD through the initiative.

The federal government is also not left out. Starting this December, all government-regulated jobs will have 10 days of paid sick leave. The duration of unpaid sick leave will be increased to 27 weeks. This will affect Canadians as well as immigrants with permanent resident status and work visas.

Immigration to Canada

You must know English to live in Canada comfortably, but you don't always have to take a language test. We talked about the five best ways to immigrate to Canada without an IELTS. These pathways suit different candidates.

Canada intends to eliminate problems in the immigration system. Instead of inviting all highly qualified specialists, the country will give preference to those who are in demand in the labour market. The Minister of Immigration cited nurses, carpenters, builders, and French teachers as examples. The official also promised to address the issue of recognition of medical degrees so that immigrant doctors can work in Canada in their occupation.

Jobs for newcomers

British Columbia is already taking steps to employ doctors. During the year, the number of places in the licensing program will triple. International medical graduates will be able to work in the provinces as associate physicians. And those who studied in the U.S. will be able to work in emergency and primary care centres, public clinics and be family doctors.

Alberta will help agri-food businesses hire and retain workers. Agriculture has become the main economic sector in the province, and specialists are needed there more than ever. Last year, 58,000 Albertans and 4,400 foreigners worked in the agri-food sphere in the region.

The Canadian government is preparing to welcome more young people from abroad to work in Canada. In 2023, 90,000 visas will be issued under the International Experience Canada program, which allows people under 35 from certain countries to work and travel in the country.

Immigration draws

On November 28, British Columbia issued 336 invitations to candidates. Skilled workers, semi-skilled workers, and international graduates of Canadian institutions were selected. Separately, the province invited childhood educators, health professionals, orderlies, and veterinarians. This was the first draw since British Columbia's transition to a new scoring system, and the passing scores were lower than usual.

On December 2, Manitoba invited 305 candidates from skilled workers in the province, skilled workers overseas, and international graduates. This time, the passing scores have decreased, but there were fewer invitations than in the previous draw.
