The duration of sick leave in Canada is increasing significantly

While planning to emigrate to Canada, most applicants are interested in the level of medicine, its affordability, and the possibility of receiving payments from the state during an illness.

Medicine in Canada is relatively free, and its level is quite high in terms of indicators. All Canadian citizens, including immigrants with permanent resident status and work visas, are eligible for free healthcare. Tourists and students don't have this option.

There was no paid "sick leave" for all employees of private companies.

On December 1, 2022, Minister of Labour Seamus O’Regan Jr. announced that 10 days of sick leave would be paid for all private company employees (immigrants and citizens) who work under federal law.
