British Columbia holds its penultimate drawing
Passing scores are high again.
On October 4, British Columbia sent out 239 invitations under the provincial immigration program. Some candidates were selected in a general drawing and some in a targeted drawing for in-demand specialists.
184 invitations were sent in the general draw. They were received by specialists of various qualifications and graduates of Canadian universities. Passing scores were distributed as follows:
- Skilled Worker — 120 points;
- Skilled Worker (Express Entry option) — 120 points;
- International Graduate — 105 points;
- International Graduate (Express Entry option) — 105 points;
- Entry Level and Semi Skilled — 82 points.
The previous general draw, which was held on September 21, only selected candidates with a job offer outside of Vancouver. The passing scores there were significantly lower. Previously, on September 13, there was a drawing for candidates with a job offer in any city in the province, and the passing scores were as high as in the new draw on October 4.
Another 55 candidates were selected in the targeted drawing. Educators, health professionals, and veterinarians who scored at least 60 points received invitations. Compared with the previous target draw, which was held on September 27, the passing scores have not changed. And the invitations this time are distributed as follows:
Professions | Number of invitations | Categories |
Early childhood educators and assistants | 32 | Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry option |
Health care professionals | 13 | Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry option, Entry Level and Semi Skilled |
Orderlies and patient care assistants | Less than 5 | Entry Level and Semi Skilled |
Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians | Less than 5 | Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry option |
This is probably British Columbia's penultimate draw before pausing for more than a month. Starting October 12, the province will stop drawings and accepting immigration applications as Canada transitions to the new NOC occupational classification. The pause will last until November 16.
Keep an eye on the history of passing scores and the number of invitations to increase your chances of immigrating to British Columbia.
