The province invited in-demand specialists.
On September 13, British Columbia held a draw under the provincial immigration program. The province sent out 300 invitations. They were received by skilled workers, university graduates, and candidates with in-demand occupations.
251 applicants were selected in the general drawing. The passing scores were distributed as follows:
- Skilled Worker — 120 points;
- Skilled Worker, Express Entry option — 120 points;
- International Graduate — 105 points;
- International Graduate, Express Entry option — 105 points;
- Entry Level and Semi Skilled — 78 points.
Another 49 candidates received invitations in the targeted drawing. The province chose educators, healthcare professionals, and veterinarians. They all needed to score a minimum of 60 points, and the invitations were distributed as follows:
Profession | Number of invitations | Categories |
Early childhood educators and assistants | 27 | Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry option |
Healthcare professionals | 12 | Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry option, Entry Level and Semi Skilled |
Healthcare assistants | Less than 5 | Entry Level and Semi Skilled |
Veterinarians and veterinary technicians | Less than 5 | Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry option |
Compared to the previous draw, which took place on September 7, the passing scores in the general drawing have increased dramatically, while in the targeted drawing they have remained unchanged.
