British Columbia held a record-breaking selection process for IT professionals

The province rarely invites more than 100 candidates at a time.

On February 1, British Columbia sent out 126 invitations to apply for nominations from the province in the provincial immigration program. Luck favoured applicants for the Technical Program, which targets IT workers. This time, the province invited a record number of candidates in this stream.

The drawing was held among the following categories:

The minimum passing score in all categories was 80. It was unchanged from the previous drawing, which took place on January 18.

To participate in the Technical Immigration Program, applicants must register with one of B.C.'s immigration streams and receive a job offer in one of 29 eligible occupations. They are also assessed on a number of factors: educational attainment, language skills, work experience, and availability of a job offer.

To increase your chances of receiving an invitation from B.C., we recommend that you keep an eye on history of your passing scores and number of invitations.
